Stage 2 workstream · Indexing

After we build, we register your site with search engines

A newly published site stays unknown to search engines for a while, and until then your pages appear nowhere. We register the site with each search engine, verify ownership and submit sitemaps to open a crawl path. Then we report how many pages are indexed, exactly as the webmaster tools show it.

You are viewing Indexing, work that runs inside Programmatic SEO. It comes with that stage rather than as a separate choice.

Two or more of these means registration comes first

  • You published a post, but searching its exact title finds nothing
  • You opened your webmaster tools and couldn’t make sense of them
  • Nobody can tell you when your pages will show up in search

53 sites published in the same sequence all appeared in search after an average of 33 days (Naver Search Advisor)

What we do

What we handle in registration

We work in order: each step finishes before the next begins, and you can also start with a single step.

  • 01

Register the site with each search engine

We skip the wait for crawlers to find you on their own. Ownership verification and sitemap submission are part of the work.

  • 02

    Record the results as returned

We record whether ownership was verified and whether the sitemap was accepted, unedited. Items that came back with errors are recorded as they are.

  • 03

    Check that pages were indexed

Registration and indexing are separate steps. We count how many pages were actually indexed.

  • 04

    Decide by index coverage

When indexed pages fall well behind published pages, we recommend consolidating first, before anything new gets built.

Deliverables

What you have after registration

These are the exact deliverables you receive. What you get, how many and to what spec are all settled before kickoff.

A sample that shows the format, not client data. The real report shows, for each search engine, whether the site is verified, when the sitemap was accepted and how many pages were indexed afterward, exactly as the webmaster tools display them.
  • Site registration status and sitemap submission dates by search engine
  • Indexing status copied exactly as shown in the webmaster tools
  • Indexing status and index coverage measured again days later
  • A recommendation on whether to expand or consolidate next

Questions

Common questions about indexing

If your question isn’t answered here, send it to us as it is and we’ll answer it the same way.

Does registration mean our pages will be indexed?
No. Registration and sitemaps encourage crawling; whether a page is indexed is the search engine’s decision. That’s why we go past registration and count how many pages were actually indexed.
Do you register with every search engine?
We register with the search engines that offer webmaster tools (Naver, Google and Bing) and submit sitemaps there. For the rest, the sitemap and site structure keep the site crawlable. The report lists exactly what was set up where.
What happens if pages aren’t indexed?
We look for the cause, in order: whether crawlers are blocked, whether another page already covers the same content, and whether the page has anything to answer. Usually that points to consolidating pages rather than adding more.
What index coverage is normal?
There is no set percentage. Google’s Search Console help says not to expect every URL on a site to be indexed and to check that key pages are. So we check the list of key pages first and report on that, ahead of the overall ratio.
Can we hire you for indexing alone?
Yes. If the site can’t be crawled, though, registration won’t get it indexed. In that case we’ll tell you up front that Stage 1 comes first.

Next stages

What comes after registration

Each stage pays off once the one before it is done. You can hire us for a single stage, and we start by checking where you are now.

  • 01

    Website migration

We move hand-built websites to a data-driven structure, with body text in the HTML crawlers receive and sitemaps and structured data built in.

  • 02

    Programmatic SEO

We list the queries customers actually search and build one data-backed page per query from a single template, starting with one cluster of 300–500 pages.

  • 03
    Cited

    Citable documents

Citable documents with one direct answer per question, submitted to search engines and placed where they can be verified outside your own site.

We start by counting how many of your published pages are indexed

We open your site, check what is indexed and which queries it appears for, and reply with what to fix first.
