We work in order: each step finishes before the next begins, and you can also start with a single step.

    Body text crawlers can read on first load

    Search engines don’t look at a screen the way people do; they read the file your server sends. If that file holds no text, only instructions to draw it later, they can see an empty page. We make sure the text is in that file from the start.

    URL structure decided up front

    Changing URLs later cuts off the signals they have built up, like moving without leaving a forwarding address. We look at which pages will grow and set the URL patterns before we build.

    Sitemap

    Sitemap and robots.txt built in during development

    The sitemap lists the pages on your site, and robots.txt tells crawlers what is allowed and disallowed. Both go in while we build, and the sitemap updates itself as pages are added.

    Structured data so machines know what each page is

    People can tell an article from a list or a company profile at a glance; machines need to be told. We add markup that tells them. The same markup is what makes rich results such as review stars or lists possible in search.

Common questions before a migration

If your question isn’t answered here, send it to us as it is and we’ll answer it the same way.

Are we throwing away our current site?
No. URLs and content that already appear in search move over intact. Before the move, we count which URLs are actually getting impressions and turn that list into the redirect map.
Won’t we lose what we’ve built up?
Only changed URLs lose continuity, which is why we build the redirect map from old URLs to new ones before anything moves. We verify it and document the server responses before and after.
We don’t have a website yet. Do we still start here?
Yes. Without a site, we build a new one at this stage. It is priced from the same table, and the scope is smaller because there is nothing to move.
Can we keep the website builder we use now?
For Stage 1, yes. Stage 2, however, needs pages generated from data. On a site built one page at a time, 300 pages take 300 rounds of manual work.
How long does it take?
It depends on scope. The main page and on-page setup come first, and the timeline grows with the number of subpages and whether a database is needed. Before kickoff, we document what we hand over and when.
