Citation reach by channel

Where you publish decides which AI answers can cite you

Posts on Naver Blog are unlikely to be cited by ChatGPT and other global AI search engines: Naver Blog’s robots.txt disallows external AI search crawlers. Naver, on the other hand, has written that AI Briefing is likely to summarize posts that already appear well in its regular search results. Korea and the rest of the world need separate plans from the start.

Citation reach by channel

AI answer citation reach by publishing channel

Rows are the channels where you publish; columns are the AI search services that produce answers. Each intersection has its own status.

Which AI answers each publishing channel can be cited in. Your own website: limited in Naver AI Briefing, citable in global AI search engines. Naver Blog and Cafe: cited in Naver AI Briefing, but crawlers for global AI search engines are blocked. The global AI search engine cell for Korean communities is based on their robots.txt files.

Where it appears

Why the same post gets different results

Google AI Overviews

Almost everything depends on the document’s own quality and indexing

A page becomes a candidate when it ranks well, has an extractable structure and carries trust that can be verified elsewhere. Documents on your own domain become assets as they are.

Naver AI Briefing

Naver says posts that already appear well in its regular search results are more likely to be summarized

Naver, the Korean search portal, writes that AI Briefing draws on creator content such as Blog, Cafe and Clip (short video) and on content from trusted sources. For health and public information, it names web documents and institutional sites as sources.

Global AI search engines

robots.txt is the first condition

If OAI-SearchBot, Claude-SearchBot or PerplexityBot is disallowed, a page can’t be a source for those answers regardless of its quality. On your own domain, you can allow them directly in robots.txt.

“예를 들어, 특정 웹사이트가 어떤 성격의 출처인지, 사이트의 구성이나 내용이 신뢰할 만 한지, 대중의 일반적인 인식이 어떠한지 등 종합적으로 고려할 수 있습니다.”

Our translation: “For example, it can comprehensively consider what kind of source a particular website is, whether the site’s structure and content are trustworthy, and how the public generally perceives it.”

What we do with this

  • We plan for Korea and for global search separately. Naver Blog posts are disallowed for external AI search crawlers in robots.txt.
  • For Naver, we first create posts that appear in Naver’s search results for the query. That’s the order Naver’s own citation criteria describe.
  • For topics such as health and public information, where Naver names web documents and institutional sites, we make your domain’s role as a source clear.
  • Documents on your own domain are built as assets for Google and global AI search engines, where you decide crawl access yourself.

That’s why “write plenty of blog posts and AI will pick them up” doesn’t hold. Decide first which answers you want to appear in, then build the assets that fit.

Naver announced a unified ranking model, which shows web, blog and cafe results in a single section, as an A/B test on 2025-11-24. In the official blog’s post list (2024-04 to 2026-08-26) we found no post announcing a full rollout. Last checked 2026-09-14.
